Rugby Teacher Receives New Jersey Governor’s Award for Outstanding Art Educator

Despina Statelova, Art Teacher at The Rugby School at Woodfield is one of the 20 state wide recipients of the New Jersey Governor’s Award for Outstanding Art Educator. The 36th annual ceremony was held on May 26, 2016 at the Patriot’s Theater located in the War Memorial Building in Trenton, NJ.

Ms. Statelova completed her education with dual major in art and psychology from Guilford College, North Carolina. She began working at The Rugby School in 2003.

Ms. Statelova’s dedication as an art teacher has been instrumental in motivating her students to reach their highest potential. Under her direction, several of Rugby’s students have been recognized for their outstanding achievement through Teen Arts, VSA and one was the recipient of the Governor’s Award for student with outstanding achievement.
