The Rugby School at Woodfield is committed to fostering workforce and occupational readiness through its innovative Work-Study Program. This program empowers students aged 14 and above to acquire valuable employability skills through a combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and practical work experience.

  • Comprehensive Skills Development: Students acquire crucial employability skills through comprehensive classroom instruction in areas like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, equipping them for success in diverse work environments.
  • Personalized Career Exploration: Students participate in a career aptitude and interest assessment, gaining valuable insights into their potential career paths and aligning their ambitions with practical experience.
  • On-Campus and Off-Campus Placements: Following successful completion of classroom training and assessment, students are eligible for supervised work placements either within the school or at partnered off-campus sites.
  • Dedicated Job Coaching Support: Throughout their work experience, students receive ongoing guidance and support from dedicated job coaches, ensuring a smooth transition into the workforce. Our Job Placement coordinator partners with a variety of local businesses and tradesmen to develop personalized learning experiences.
  • Earning Potential and Financial Responsibility: Students can begin earning a stipend upon placement, fostering a sense of accomplishment and encouraging responsible financial management skills.

    The Rugby School at Woodfield's High School to College Transition Program serves as a crucial bridge for special needs students aiming to pursue higher education. This program equips high school seniors with the opportunity to enroll concurrently in two college-level courses per semester (fall and spring). This fosters academic preparation and builds confidence for a seamless transition to the college environment.

    Key Program Features:

    • Early College Exposure: Students gain valuable hands-on experience in a college setting, alleviating potential anxieties and facilitating a smooth transition from high school. Counselors will help with registering for classes, filing forms for financial aid and seeking scholarships.
