The Role of our

Nurses

  • Administer Medication: If a student needs medication during the school day, the school nurse will make sure it is administered safely and according to doctor's orders
  • Treat injuries and illnesses: Scraped knees, stomachaches, and headaches are all common occurrences at school, and the school nurse is there to provide first aid and basic medical care.
  • Manage chronic health conditions: Many students have chronic health conditions like asthma or diabetes. The school nurse works with parents and doctors to develop a care plan to ensure these students can safely participate in school activities.
  • Conduct screenings: School nurses often perform vision, hearing, and height/weight screenings to identify any potential health concerns.
